2020 Chevrolet Bolt
December 30 2019, Granby Chevrolet Buick GMC
Have you begun to think about buying an electric car? If so, do you worry about the range of your future vehicle? It is likely that you answered yes to both of these questions. The electric vehicle segment is growing and more and more consumers are thinking of ridding themselves of their dependence on gas in favour of a vehicle that connects every night and that does not use or need gasoline.
While electric vehicles have become more popular over the years, this is partly due to the Chevrolet Bolt. When the Bolt arrived on the market in 2017, it offered, for the first time, a long-range alternative at an affordable price. For less than $45,000, you got an electric vehicle that offered 383 kilometres of range, which was superior to the Nissan LEAF at the time. If you wanted to have such range in 2017, you had to turn to Tesla with the Model S starting at over $75,000.
Today, the electric vehicle segment has changed a lot. The Bolt has forced manufacturers to develop electric vehicles with more range that don’t cost more. The Nissan LEAF PLUS now offers 363 kilometres of range, the Tesla Model 3 offers more than 400, the Hyundai Kona EV offers 415 kilometres ... but now Chevrolet is back with a Bolt that once again dominates its competition when it comes to how far you can travel at what price.
Offered at less than $45,000 and eligible for government rebates of up to $13,000, the Chevrolet Bolt now offers 417 kilometres of range. Its engine remains one of the most powerful offered in a vehicle of this price with 200 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque.
